Spring Break Travel Plan

For my Spring Break Travel Choice, I decided to head off to Kathmandu, Nepal with my 3 friends, and take a 14 day hike through the mountains, complete with tour and an all inclusive Bed and Breakfast.

The group expenses include the plane tickets, travel insurance, and the Annapurna Trek vouchers. The individual expenses are the Nepalese Visas ($25 each), tips/extra money for souvenirs, and costs for lunch and dinner in Kathmandu (not included in tour). However, I have included them all as group costs and then divided by four to divide the expenses evenly. The total cost of the entire trip is $13,225, and the price per person is $3,306.25. Seeing as the trip is in three years, the money that we all need to raise every year is $1,102.08. This translates to $91.84 a month, or $21.14 a week. On a minimum wage of $10/hr, We would all need to work 3 hours per week for the next three years, or save up $3.02 a day, to make this trip a reality. That would be as simple as working a job from 5:00 to 9:00 at minimum wage one day a week, most likely Saturday, every week. I think it is better to work constantly instead of just a summer job, because the availability of summer jobs vary from year to year, and if you have a routine job every week, it becomes habitual and part of your life, making it easier to earn money. However, you might need to work more days a week to keep certain jobs, but in such cases it earns you more money, making the trip more of a reality and also allowing you to be more free with the other portions of the money you earn.

If I was the only one paying for the trip, however, I would need to raise all $13,225 in 3 years. This would mean $4,408.33 per year, or $84.54 per week. I would need to raise $12.08 a day. This means I would have to work for at least 9 hours a week, at a wage of $10/hr, or 6 hours a week at a wage of $15/hr. For this I would have to work 3 days a week, 3 hours each day (from 5:00 to 9:00 three days a week would be a possibility), at minimum wage, or if my wage were a little higher, two days a week would be enough. Below is an excel spreadsheet containing all the information pertaining to the trip.
